The control panel

After you've logged in, you'll be taken to the control panel, a screen similar to that shown below:

Control Panel

At the top of the page is the top menu, a row of tabs that bring together all the functions of Hidden CMS that you have permission to access. The top menu appears on every page, so you're never more than one click from all the key features of the CMS.

In the top right corner is a link showing which user account you are logged in as. Clicking on this will take you to your account home screen. Next to the account name is the log out link.

Beneath the top menu are the breadcrumbs - a line of links that shows which area of the site you are currently viewing.

The centre of the screen has a set of icons that act as buttons to give you access to the same functions as the top menu. Again, the options available to you will depend on your account permissions.

At the bottom of the page, links in the footer give you quick access to all sections of the CMS. The footer also appears on every page, making it easy to find your way around.

If you are accessing the CMS on a smartphone you should automatically be shown a version specifically designed for mobile devices, but there is a link in the footer to manually switch between the mobile and desktop versions.

If you need to return to this screen at any point, simply click on the Hidden CMS logo in the top left corner.

The site overview

The site overview shows you all the pages and hyperlinks that make up your website. This is a key screen in Hidden CMS as it's here that you manage the structure of your website and where you add and edit pages.

From the site overview you can do the following tasks:

  • Add new pages and links at the top level of your website
  • View page or link information and edit your pages or links
  • Preview a specific page on the Test site
  • Include or exclude pages and links from the menu
  • Change the order in which pages and links appears in the menu
  • Temporarily withdraw pages or links from your website
  • Permanently delete pages or links

You can get to the site overview from links in the Edit section of the top menu and footer, or from the Edit & Publish box of the control panel.
